i decided to participate in the Warm/Cool Quiltalong after all. i made the mini size using 5" squares, cutting them on the bias via this method. whenever possible, i used warm/cool pairs from the same line of fabric. the quilt is 21" square. i pieced batting scraps together. The quilting is my first attempt doing stitch in the ditch. i didn't love it, personally. it's very slow and i doubt i'd ever use it on a larger quilt.

i really liked the original back, but i didn't want to copy it completely. I used 2 different fabrics from the DS quilts line from joanns and made a pinwheel. I also added triangles to the corners using the method from oh frannson's book to hang the quilt. The binding is kona medium grey.
i just love the way this quilt turned out. i want to make a sister quilt using HSTs and values instead of warm/cool colors. i haven't washed it yet, but i can't wait to hang it up in my sewing room.
Hello! I'm glad you're back. Your HST mini is lovely. I definitely want to make one, in due time. I hope you had a fun vacation!
